Neoplants is a biotech start-up that uses cutting-edge synthetic biology techniques to develop the next generation of plants for the benefit of humans and our planet. We have set up a brand-new lab in Saint-Ouen, where our R&D team is turning incredible visions into real-world products.
Working with us means interacting with our scientists in biochemistry, molecular biology, plant transgenesis, genome editing, and microbiome enhancement. You will get to exercise your creative thinking, team spirit, and leadership capabilities by experiencing work in an ultra-fast-moving environment. You will also help bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to our projects.
If you are as excited as we are about using state-of-the-art technologies, exploring uncharted scientific territories, pushing the boundaries of what is conceivable, if you want to transform the way people think about genetics and work on inspiring deep-tech products that have a real positive impact on the environment and people’s lives, you’re in the right place.
Our Plant Innovation Team is committed to developing innovative methods for transforming crop and ornamental plants. During this internship, you will contribute to establishing new transformation methods, such as suspension cultures, to enhance transformation speed and efficiency. Suspension culture refers to the process of growing plant cells in a liquid nutrient medium under controlled conditions. In the next phase, you will focus on establishing a transformation system via various methods and performing molecular analyses of the transformed cells.
At Neoplants, we are always trying to optimize our transformation processes and this project focuses on monitoring cell growth and developing protocols tailored to our lab in order to improve transformation efficiency in our existing plant cell lines. We also plan to explore establishing cell suspensions for new plant species.
Our team is involved in a wide range of exciting projects, allowing you to gain experience with a variety of techniques.
Key areas of focus:
Plant In vitro regeneration: You will be trained to be an expert in working in sterile in vitro conditions. You will learn how to formulate media for plant tissue culture with micro-macro elements and growth hormones to control the in vitro plant growth behaviors.
Plant cell culture: You will work on creating and manipulating plant cell lines using new technology.
Agrobacterium-mediated transformation: You will learn how to transform constructed vectors into Agrobacterium strains and perform plant nuclear transformation.
This internship will provide you with the opportunity to develop technical skills in plant and molecular biology while contributing to the development of an unestablished innovative method. You will also get the chance to discover the working environment of an R&D lab in a dynamic and vibrant startup.
