Job Description

The Role
To support the further development of our mycoprotein production facility, planetary is searching for an experienced (Bio)-process engineer with proven industrial experience to support us at our 50k L production site in Aarberg, canton of Bern. In this position you will carry out development, upscaling and production up to 50k L for external clients and internal products in batch and continuous production.

The Position

  • Further optimize and operate our mycelium biomass (mycoprotein) fermentation process from 300 to 50m3 scale

  • Involves routine production of mycoprotein at 50m3 scale

  • Be part of a team involved in the implementation of a continuous production process for mycoprotein at 50m3 scale

  • Requires flexible working hours involving being part of a team involved in shift working

  • Requires strong discipline and ability to follow directives from line managers

  • Requires ability to operate a range of equipment and utilities under carefully controlled food grade conditions.

  • Involves ability to trouble-shoot and resolve technical problems

  • Involves a very hands-on, practical approach to fermentation processes for food ingredient production

Preferred Experience

  • Motivated to join an impact-focused industrial firm, seeking to do well by doing good and scaling up the alternative protein industry.

  • BSc, MSc or CFC in a suitable field of food technology, microbiology, fermentation technology, process engineering or related field

  • 3 or more years of prior experience in the development and implementation of robust industrial fermentation or chemical processes

  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of industrial manufacturing conditions for food manufacturing.

  • Strongly motivated to work within start-up, team environment and desire to learn new concepts and ideas

  • Good command in German is a plus.
