Job Description

About Pasqal

PASQAL designs and develops Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) and associated software tools.
Our innovative technology enables us to address use cases that are currently beyond the reach of the most powerful supercomputers; these cases can concern industrial application challenges as well as fundamental science needs.
In addition to the exceptional computing power they provide, QPUs are highly energy efficient and will contribute to a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of the HPC industry.

PASQAL has theambition of building and developing Quantum Processing Units (QPU) enablinghighly performant computation using neutral atoms manipulated with lasers. Onthe hardware level, the complexity of the system makes this journey unique andinteresting.

In the System Integration team of the Hardware department, we are responsible for the integrationactivities of new sub-systems into our QPU platforms. The development of suchsub-systems follows the commonly known “V-model”, starting with a top-down“system decomposition and definition” stream followed by a bottom-up“integration and recomposition” stream, with the corresponding dedicatedverification & validation tests at each level.

The role of the System Integration team in this V-cycle is the following:

  • in the specification stream [from “QPU system requirements” to “QPU high-level designs” to “QPU sub-systems detailed designs”]:
    • The core mission is to define the QPU sub-systems verification plans in relation with high-level sub-system designs.
    •  The team also has the mission to review sub-systems detailed designs (led by other teams in Hardware) to ensure that new sub-systems interfaces are well defined and compatible with the QPU platforms.
    • Finally, the team contributes to the definition of the QPU system verification and validation plans led by the System Performances team.
  • in the testing stream [from “QPU sub-system unitary testing”, to “QPU sub-system verification”, to “QPU system verification & validation”]:
    • The team is in charge of integrating sub-systems, including both Hardware integration activities and Embedded Software integration & deployment activities.
    • The team is responsible for defining and validating sub-systems integration procedures, integration test plan, and integration test reports before they are transferred to the Manufacturing department.
