Job Description

Neurobus is developing cutting-edge vision solutions and systems, leveraging neuromorphic technologies to enhance the intelligence and efficiency of embedded devices and robots in the Space and Defense sectors.

We are opening this position to build and iterate on the foundational hardware for our prototype platforms, a crucial step for integrating our neuromorphic vision and autonomous robotics pipelines on optimized platforms. These platforms will serve as testbeds for evaluating and refining our technology in complex real-world scenarios.

We are seeking a passionate and resourceful Mechatronics Engineer with a knack for hands-on prototyping and a strong understanding of both mechanical and electronic engineering principles. You’ll directly contribute to the core development of our robotic platforms and gain invaluable experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment alongside a dynamic, talented engineering team.

Preferred Experience

🎯 What You’ll Do

As a Mechatronics Engineer at Neurobus, you will:

  • Design, assemble, and test intelligent perception and robotics systems.

  • Create modular designs that allow easy integration and testing of various sensors and vision systems.

  • Drive the sourcing and selection of appropriate hardware components (e.g., batteries, compute platforms, motors), optimizing for platform effectiveness, payload capacity, development speed, and supply chain sustainability.

  • Collaborate with the team to integrate perception and control software pipelines efficiently and communicate trade-offs clearly.

  • Participate in field testing and data collection to evaluate and optimize performance.

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues during assembly and field testing.

  • Document construction processes, including component selection, wiring diagrams, and software configuration.

  • Contribute to refining our mechatronics platforms roadmap, influencing R&D directions.

🧑‍💻 What You’ll Bring

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

  • Proven experience building field-tested robotic platforms.

  • Expertise in developing custom mechanical structures, including CAD design (SolidWorks, Fusion 360), 3D printing, assembly, and design review.

  • Experience developing custom PCBs, including electronics design, assembly, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with microcontrollers (Raspberry Pi, Arduino) and custom firmware development/testing.

  • Baseline programming skills in Python and C/C++.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Fluency in English.

Bonus Points

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in mechatronics, robotics, or related fields.

  • Experience in the aerial robotics, space, or defense industries.

  • Supplier selection and supply chain management experience.

  • Sensor integration (cameras, IMUs, range finders, etc.).

  • Familiarity with perception and guidance frameworks (e.g., ROS).

  • Experience building and flying DIY FPV aerial drones in line with regulation & safety procedures.

🌱 Benefits & Perks
