⚖️ Our Legal team
The Legal team is at the heart of Joko’s growth and protection. We navigate the complexities of contracts, regulations, and risk management to ensure the company operates smoothly and seizes opportunities with confidence.
We handle all legal matters: Contracts, Corporate, Labor, Data protection, IP etc… enabling other teams to innovate with confidence.
Leveraging our expertise and external partners, we collaborate with all functions to protect Joko’s interests efficiently and proactively.
🎯 What you will do
As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for a polyvalent, multi-skilled, and highly challenging scope of work. You will report directly to the Head of Legal.
Your responsibilities:
Partner with the Head of Legal, ensuring the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations, in France as well as in other countries, Joko may be made available in the future.
Take any relevant action to prevent the company from litigation. Collaborate with the Head of Legal if any litigation eventually comes out.
Be the go-to person when it comes to drafting or reviewing contracts for all aspects of Joko’s activity: employees, freelancers, merchant partners, suppliers, terms and conditions, etc.;
In coordination with the Head of Legal, our DPO and our Product team, take our GDPR compliance to the next level, implementing privacy by design and improving our current processes (data treatment register, privacy policy, IT security routines…)
Ensure thorough oversight of all aspects of corporate law events, including BSPCE allocations and exercises, general shareholders’ assemblies, board meetings, and cap table management;
Along with our Head of Legal and external advisor, make sure we have strong IP management procedures, including follow-up on domain names, trademarks, and competitive intelligence;

Support the Head of Legal in coordinating the legal aspect of the international expansion of the company, especially in the US, where Joko is already available.
👀 Who we're looking for
Education: You have a Master's degree from a Tier 1 law university with a specialization in private law. Having passed the bar is a plus.
Experience: You have at least 2 years of experience but ideally 5 as a lawyer, including experience in a top law firm.
You possess knowledge and experience either in negotiating contracts, GDPR and personal data management or Corporate lawy. Additionally, you are adept at preventing and handling legal litigations of any kind.
Languages: You are fluent in French and English, both written and spoken, as we are expanding internationally.
Communication: You have excellent analytical and synthesis skills, and you know how to explain complex topics in a simple way. You are recognized for your writing abilities.
Project management: you are able to lead a project independently, breaking down complex problems into small tasks and hitting milestones.
Attention to details: You know that the devil is in the details, and you have a talent for spotting flaws when there are and producing perfect written documents.
Mindset: You have an entrepreneurial mindset, you like challenges and you like getting hands-on.

🤝 Our hiring process
Intro call: Quick screening with the Hiring Manager or a recruiter.
Step 1 – Team interview (45 min): Conversation with two Joko team members (could include the Hiring Manager, people from the team you’d join, or colleagues from other teams).

Step 2 – Role-specific assessments
For non-tech roles: Take-home case study followed by a 45 min debrief. We assess both your output and how you think in real time. The exercise will be relevant to the role (e.g. analysis, strategy, or process design).

For tech roles: Live technical interviews:
Coding interview + System design interview
For research internships, an additional round may involve analyzing and presenting a research paper
Step 3 – Founders interview (45 min): Conversation with two of our founders.
