Job Description

FAIRLY MADE® is a French scale-up helping fashion brands become more transparent and sustainable. Its SaaS platform enables brands to take back control of their supply chain data and improve their environmental and social impact, not just on paper, but in practice.

Founded in 2018 by Camille Le Gal and Laure Betsch, this fast-growing mission-driven company has raised €20 million to date, including a €15 million round in 2025 led by BNP Paribas Solar Impulse Venture Fund, GET Fund, ETF Partners, and Frenchfounders. The company aims to establish itself as the leader in a rapidly expanding market.

Fairly Made supports brands across five key pillars: Traceability, Impact Measurement, Eco-design, Supply Chain, and Communication.

From raw supplier data all the way to a transparent Digital Product Passport that the end consumer can scan.

Your mission

As the Head of Engineering, you are responsible for delivering high-quality features on time while ensuring the growth of each tech team member. Along and co-construct with the CTPO your technical vision, you directly contribute to deliver the product and the tech we need to support Fairly Made growth ambitions.

1. Ensure Efficient Delivery

  • Guarantee that 100% of project milestones are met on the ones we are committed

  • Implement and improve tools and processes (Software Delivery LifeCycle) to enhance team velocity

  • React quickly to delays to minimize impact and ensure effective communication with Care and Growth department

2. Maintain a High Technical Quality Standard

  • Define and foster the culture of quality by setting ambitious goals and encouraging best practices to all team.

  • Implement tools and processes to help teams achieve near-zero bugs per month.

  • Oversee all architectural decisions and ensure clear and precise documentation.

  • Oversee the rearchitecture project

3. Manage the Tech Leads

  • Support the Tech Leads in delivering high-quality projects on time and growing as technical leaders.

  • Maintain a structured career path for the whole engineering team.

  • Ensure smooth communication on company strategy and updates to the team.

4. Be a Key Player in Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the CTPO and Head of Product to ensure seamless project integration across teams.

5. Act as a Business Partner to the Executive Committee

  • Understand Fairly Made’s business challenges to be a valuable sparring partner at the leadership level.

  • Have an innovation mindset regarding the use of new technologies in our practices or in our product.

Preferred Experience

Experience & profile

  • 7 to 10 years of experience, with a solid management track record (has already managed tech leads)

  • Proven experience leading change within a structured organization (change management, transmitting a technical culture)

  • Engineering degree preferred

  • Fluent in French and English

Industry background

  • Experience in B2B SaaS / product-led companies, ideally Series A to C scale-ups

  • Affinity with fashion, retail or CSR is a real plus

Professional background

  • Engineering Director / VPE / CTO of a Series A-C startup with a real engineering org (comparable size to Fairly Made or slightly smaller)

    OR

  • Engineering Manager at a larger tech company (Doctolib, Payfit, BlaBlaCar type), managing tech leads and looking for a wider scope in a smaller company

Management scope

  • Able to manage a ~15-person engineering team (10 developers, 2 Lead Devs, 3 ICs: Lead Infra, Lead Architect, Lead Data Eng)

  • No direct management of Product Managers (the 4 PMs report to the Head of PM): strong ability to collaborate as a peer

Recruitment Process

  3. 1h30-2h in our office: debrief Interview with Elliott, CTPO and a Lead Software Engineer followed by a meeting with a part of the team
