Job Description

We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer in our Paris office to own and improve customer projects end to end. This is a hands-on software and data engineering role focused on deploying CarbonFarm’s technical capabilities in real customer environments.

Our work combines remote sensing, agricultural data, and machine learning. We work closely with customers around the world to turn complex carbon project requirements into reliable workflows and high-value outputs.

The role sits at the intersection of engineering, delivery, and product. You will work across operations, engineering, product, and R&D to run data pipelines, validate model outputs, shape technical requirements, and identify what should evolve into core product functionality.

This is not a consulting role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working directly with code, databases, pipelines, and technical systems, and who can help translate delivery needs into better product and engineering decisions.

What you’ll do

  • Run and maintain customer mission workflows from data intake to final output

  • Operate and improve data and ML pipelines

  • Work with Python, SQL, cloud systems, and orchestration tooling (e.g. Dagster)

  • Validate model outputs and investigate issues in data or execution

  • Translate customer needs into actionable technical requirements

  • Support reporting and delivery for multiple customers in parallel

  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, product, and R&D

  • Identify recurring delivery patterns that should be improved or productised

  • Contribute to product improvements over time as delivery work reveals missing capabilities

  • Leverage AI tooling to drive rapid iteration, with a bias for technical accuracy

Preferred Experience

What we’re looking for

  • Masters degree or equivalent in engineering, mathematics or similar

  • 2 years experience in software engineering or in a similar technical role

  • Autonomous coding in Python with 2+ years professional experience

  • Comfortable navigating and querying SQL databases

  • 1+ years experience creating or adapting data visualisations in Python or a data visualisation platform (e.g. Superset)

  • Experience working with cloud platforms

  • Experience building, running, or maintaining data pipelines

  • Experience applying machine learning models, preferably in a professional context

  • Ability to understand technical systems end to end, even when not every component is owned directly

  • Good communication skills and comfort working with customers or non-technical stakeholders

  • English fluency

  • Paris-based, with the ability to work in person with the team

  • French is not a requirement as we use English in the office (though it’s useful for day-to-day life)

Nice to have

  • Experience with ML pipeline operations, deployment, or monitoring

  • Familiarity with infrastructure and workflow orchestrating tooling

  • Remote sensing or earth observation familiarity

  • Exposure to SAR or optical data

  • Familiarity with GIS tools or geospatial software concepts

  • Experience prototyping dashboards or lightweight internal tools

Additional Information

  • Contract Type: Full-Time
  • Location: Paris
  • Experience: > 2 years
  • Occasional remote authorized
