Job Description

The Data engineer must design, build and maintain data flows and data stores at Scortex. This includes activities such as database administration and optimisation, stream processing, data security, data quality monitoring, building APIs and maintaining documentation and availability of data.

  • Deploy, maintain and optimize scalable databases
  • Develop, maintain and optimize scalable APIs
  • Deploy business intelligence tooling to help non-technical users
  • Ensure continued high security for these systems and data
  • Build and enforce data quality guidelines and tooling
  • Work on the synchronisation of data produced by our fleet of inspection stations to the cloud
  • Stay current, keep up to date with the data engineering ecosystem
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date data documentation
  • Beyond automation and maintenance, it is expected to draft and submit proposals for changes towards improvements in our infrastructure and cost.

Preferred Experience

Hard skills:

  • Is proficient in Linux/Unix system administration and associated tools and concepts
  • Has hands-on experience with Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL - Clickhouse or similar would be a plus
  • Has strong architectural and design skills
  • Is proficient in Python and/or Scala
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes would be a plus
  • Can manage resources on one of the big cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

Soft skills:

  • Has good interpersonal skills to communicate more easily with different people/teams
  • Is analytical and an excellent problem-solver
  • Is interested in the business needs tied to her/his work
  • Languages: Fluent English, French

Recruitment Process

3 round interviews:

  • Introduction call (~25 minutes over phone)
  • Technical interview (peer programming from 1 to 2hours)
  • Final call (~45 minutes)
