Our mission : easing farmers’ transition to regenerative agriculture

Rize is a tech start-up developing climate finance to accelerate the transition to a sustainable and low carbon agriculture.

Today agriculture amounts to up to 25% of global greenhouse gases emissions, while the large-scale adoption of climate friendly practices could turn agricultural soils into one of the largest carbon sinks in the world by withdrawing carbon from the atmosphere.

In this global effort to solve climate change, Rize has pledged to ease the journey of farmers into regenerative agriculture. Rize is simplifying farmers' access to science and to carbon finance for their climate action.

That is how Rize has developed the first platform worldwide for carbon credits and has already developed a significant network of partners in France (such as farming cooperatives).

The journey to develop carbon finance for agriculture will be filled with plenty of exciting challenges:

  • develop new schemes of carbon finance to ensure that the transition brings more value to the farmers;
  • launch plenty of innovative services to create more value for the ecosystem;
  • going international soon;
  • improve our carbon monitoring infrastructure to keep up with the best of science.

Rize was founded in September 2020 by a team of engineers, and has since grown to a team of 6 people. Now, as the project has gained traction and raised funds, we are gathering the dream team to join us in this adventure.

Job Description

What you’ll be doing

We are looking for the most talented business developer who will bring Rize to the next level commercially, both in terms of our solution’s deployment and in terms of the quality of our sales processes.

You will be in charge of scaling the deployment of our solution in agricultural ecosystems, via:

  • the creation of new partnerships with players such as farming cooperatives, farm networks, grain buyers, and all sorts of technical advisors, who will deploy our solutions with their network of farms as part of their new sustainable offer of services
  • the direct subscription of farmers on our platform

The main responsibilities attached to the role are:
1) for partnerships:

  • taking care of the whole process from lead generation to closing of new partners, including negotiation of contracts
  • updating on a regular basis sales processes to reflect on learnings and the maturation of our ecosystem
  • implementing marketing automation and growth hacking tools, to improve the efficiency of our processes
  • taking part in general brand awareness, which might include sometimes the creation of content and communication supports where relevant
  • and identification of opportunities to create more value for our partners and ease their processes

2) for farmers:

  • enhancing the whole onboarding process of farmers on our platform (until they have paid for a carbon diagnostic). This includes the identification of potential issues and hurdles for farmers and helping them overcome these decision roadblocks with the most efficient support materials (timely information support, webinars, calls, tailored content or use cases, recommendation to work with our partners…).
  • implementing inbound marketing approaches, including growth hacking and brand awareness to generate a sustained stream of farmers towards our platform

You will work with Etienne, the CEO, and with Fanny, Lead Sales, who is currently responsible for improving and scaling our sales strategy and processes.

As Rize is a start-up, the internal career evolutions are limitless and you will naturally have plenty of opportunities to work on activities outside of the direct scope of your role.

Place of work

Although Rize is based in Paris (our offices are in the Deeptech incubator Agoranov, close to Montparnasse), we enjoy the comfort of working remotely from home while getting occasions to have meaningful in-person interactions with the team.

We are currently in flex office mode, so we enjoy the best of both worlds, the flexibility that comes with working from home and great team moments when we all meet together in the office (usually 2 to 3 days each week).

Preferred Experience

Your skills

We are looking for the following experience:

  • Education in sales/business or agronomy with a major in business. A masters’ degree is highly appreciated
  • Experience in sales is expected
  • Experience in marketing automation is desirable
  • Experience (including internships) in agriculture and/or in a start-up is considered as a plus
  • French and English full business proficiency (more languages are welcome).
